Why choose a triangle shade sail?

An umbrella shades a circle and is usually in the wrong position by four in the afternoon. A sail hangs where you want it and stays there. The triangle is also the easiest shape to tension neatly, because three points always lie in one plane.

Choose anchor points at different heights so rain runs off at one corner instead of collecting in the middle. Tighten the cords in turn rather than pulling one completely tight first; this keeps the fabric evenly flat. Wipe it down and allow it to dry completely before storing.
